It doesn't really matter what the sex is, as long as you introduce them slowly.Confine the new kitty in another room or crate and allow your little boy to smell the new cat and get used to the idea there is a stranger in the house. Keeping them apart will give them both a chance to get used to the other without them being able to injure each other. After several days, they seem to tolerate each others presence, without hissing and spiting, allow them to see each other face to face. Do not thrust them at each other but just casually watch them and allow them to make their own introductions. As long as their is no major knock down brawls allow them to run free with each other, If their is a big spat, separate them and wait a few days and try again. Eventually they will realise that they want to be friends. As longs as your not acting all nervous and apprehensive they shouldn't be all stressed out. Pets pick up the owners vibes. At least mine seem too.

If you get a young male kitten and neuter him early, they'll get along fine. 2 young neutered males shouldn't fight. If you get a female, make sure they're both fixed as young as the vet will let you- females can start breeding at 5-6 months, and you don't want that. At his age, it really doesn't matter, whatever you prefer.

I agree that for the period of maximum situations a woman could be greater useful. woman-male pairs tend to be much less territorial with one yet another. of path, you have the desire to determine they're the two fixed. yet in my adventure, the age difference and genders are not so substantial by using fact the cats' personalities, however i does no longer recommend too extensive of an age hollow. i wish you're making plans to undertake from a safeguard. i could communicate over with the safeguard team and describe your cat's character and ask them with reference to the personalities of the cats there. in the experience that your cat is enormously mellow, as an occasion, he could tolerate a kitten or a youthful cat greater. If he's greater extreme-strung, yet another greater mellow cat could paintings greater useful. Edited to characteristic: additionally, attempt to determine you could take it sluggish to be with them lots of the day for the duration of the creation era. good luck!

I would get a female cat. Two males can sometimes be too aggressive with eachother.

In my experience, two cats of the opposite sex will get along better than two cats of the same sex. No matter what, be sure to get your cats fixed.
