I have a growing number of sterile dressing from first aid boxes that although are still sterile are technically 'out of date' I am sure there must be somewhere that would be glad of them and not mind the 'date' issue........(I have checked that they do not deteriorate unless the packet is damaged)

I know they are still sterile but under health and safety rules I work to any 'out of date' dressings have to be removed and replaced. I dont fancy in this day and age being sued for using a wound dressing that expired a month ago........and yes I do believe it would happen in our sue/compensation culture

Try contacting your local hospital or pharmacy. A lot of hospitals and pharmacies pack the outdated supplies that they have and ship them to third world countries. Some nursing homes and other healthcare agencies do this as well. Try the American Red Cross--they use some of these supplies to train their volunteers with. Hope this helps.

I was a home health nurse for years and we always "recycled" good things like you are offering to our patients "under the table", so to speak. I would call a hospice company or a homehealth company. Some patients who have to buy their dressing materials would be most happy to have them. You might want to also call your local school nurse; she may be happy to have them for scrapes and bumps for the kids. Godloveya for thinking of others!

Not what you are thinking but whjat about red cross or a college that teaches care / nursing. They would be ideal to practice first aid as they would not need to be sterile.

You could also offer them on freecycle.

basically once out of date they are not considered fit for use. Give them to St john or the red cross and they can use them for training purposes

They are never "Out of Date" You can sprinkle alcohol on them to boost the sterilent.

they should never be used for treatment once out of date, but either the red cross or St johns etc would probably be grateful to use them for training purposes,

If they truly don't deteriorate, maybe Doctors Without Borders would accept them.
