Yes the is a demo hammer that you can rent and will make short oder of the tile

Hi, probably the best way is to use a roto-hammer or demo-hammer with a flat chisel. Some home-depot stores rent them, or you can call a tool rental place. Their in the yellow pages just tell the counter person what you're trying to do, they'll be happy to find you something. This is going to be labor intensive, dirty, and very noisy. I have seen floor chisels with 12" wide edges but I've only seen them used on VCT and carpeting. Hope this helps

One other option is to use a standard "air chisel". You can buy these for less than 30 bucks at tool stores if you have access to an air compressor. Work great on this, especially with a wide flat chisel. Check http://www.harborfreight.com and also Sears, Lowes, Home Depot as well.
