Your on the right track by at least asking these questions. The answer is simple. Even the Greeks and Romans knew the answer to this question. Exercise incorporating cardiovascular training and resistance training will get you more muscular and toned. Make this a life long commitment so pick something you could develop a long term commitment to.For cardiovascular exercise, you need to do this form a minimum of 40 minutes 3 times a week. Running, swimming, bicycling or basketball, are all exercises that would fulfill this aspect. For resistance training nothing builds muscle like weight lifting. Some basic rules. First seek the help of an experienced pro. This could be a school coach or a licensed trainer at a gym. If you don't have access to either, try to lift with a partner to help spot you.( A spot is someone who will help you lift the weight up if you cannot complete the rep.) Give your body rest in between sessions. An example would be to do upper body workouts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday then lower body workouts on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Start your workouts with a warm-up then start with the primary muscles. The upper body exercises are; Bench press and Lat pull downs. Do either of these first. For lower body this wold be exercises such as squats which incorporate the quad and hamstring muscles. Be patient and diligent One of my students started bench pressing only about 120 pounds at age 14 and three years later was benching almost 385 pounds. You can do it!

Regular push ups, one arm push ups, clap push ups, sit ups with your legs in the air, crunches, leg lifts, wall stands, wall sits, weight lifting. Personally, I would recommend boxing. It's a very inexpensive sport, and I love it and it will get you in REALLY good shape (we focus mainly on abs so that we don't feel the blows as hard, and upper body so that we can hit harder). Try running a lot as well.

go to this website and click on the muscle you want to work on and click on it. when you get to that page select 'Body Weight Exercises Only' in the pull down menu and click go. you would get few good exercises for that body part.

personally i just do push ups, sit ups and squats. uppper body, core, and lower body.
