It always astonishes me when I read so called "voice remedies" like drinking tea, or gallons of water, or drinking brandy et al. And why am I astonished?
Your larynx, which contains your vocal cords, is located in your windpipe. Anything that you drink will not have any effect on the vocal cords. If it did, you'd chock.
The best cure for a horse voice or for simple laryngitis is steam. Steam shrinks vocal cord swelling. It is the swelling that creates a horse voice and laryngitis.
My recommendation, that one that I give all my vocal students, is to go out an buy yourself a vaporizer. Set it up so that it will be pumping out steam while you sleep at night. This is the best time to do it because when you sleep, you are not using your voice. It's a classic win/win where the voice is getting the rest it needs while the steam is helping to reduce the swelling.
Your cup of tea or shot of brandy might be good for the soul but it will do nothing to aid your vocal cords.
Sleep with steam for a few nights and your voice will be as good as new.
One more thing. Sometimes environmental stresses cause the vocal cords to swell. If you have allergies or a cold virus, I'd sleep with steam and take an antihistamine to help reduce the swelling.
Hope this helps!

Yes! When you put a lot of stress on the vocal folds the only way they can heal is by not using them. No talking, singing, whispering, clearing throat, etc. Also drink lots of water. Give them at least two days then test by speaking and gently doing a few scales from the middle of your range. If you are still a bit rusty but sounding better, you might resume talking a bit, but do not sing for a few more days.

I'm not an expert, but I've learned from my mom:-)
You should drink plenty of water, and not talk as much. You can still talk, but don't yell, or jab your mouth all day!!
So, get some rest, drink eight glasses of water (you should every day anyway), and take a break from singing for awhile.
Good luck!!

1st of all, dont trust your shower. relax from the singing ,sooth it with a warm honey lemon mint tea. and refrain from screaming. talking is okay. the vocals need to be tuned so keep them warmed up by talking when needed.

YES you do NOT want to damage your cords. Do not talk (do not whisper either -- as whispering is even worse than talking)... make hot tea with ginger and lemon. Rest your voice.. ;-)
