I have a cockatiel and sometimes he hangs upside down and flapps his wing. Does anyone know why? Is that normal?

Yes this is normal for a bird, they do it to exercise their muscles in there wings, try letting him out to fly around a bit more? that way he wont need to do this.

This is normal behaviour. The cockatiel is just enjoying life and getting exercise. Mine does that too. My sister thought he was scared of something, but further research on the internet showed her that it's normal.

There are two reasons cocks do this. One is to declare that they are the mightiest bird in the land, and the other is simply boredome or a need for exercise. If he spends most of his time cooped up in his cage, he just needs to spread his wings and stretch. I suggest reminding him of how pretty he is when he does that.

Yes this is normal. He's just goofing off and exercising his wings. It would be nice if he could have time out of his cage daily so he could really flap his wings.

3 possibilities:
1. If his wings are out fully and his beak is apart then he is trying to attack something.
2.If not it is because he wants to come out but if the cage door is open then :

That means hes just asking for attention in a more creative way.
But my bird stands on her perch, screams, and flaps her wings
so she can get out.

He's playing and or releasing heat from under his wings. It's normal.

Very normal he may want some attention (like a child) and is showing off to get you to notice him!
