Okay, everyone is going to give you their own homemade remedy but mine is simple. Rubbing alcohol. The stronger the better but BE CAREFUL about getting it in your mouth!!! Take a q-tip, get a little alcohol on it then dab at the sore. Do this three or four times during any given hour. It won't disappear but it takes the redness and the swelling down quickly. And yes it will burn at first. Since it's near your nose, you'll probably sneeze like crazy too, but I promise this works. Why? Because all the other products for things like cold sores and fever blisters all contain alcohol. Like I said, just be careful since it's around your nose and mouth. I'm prone to fever blisters and this stops them in their track. Hope this helps.

This is going to sound strange, but here's a few that I have tried in the past and they've worked for me...

Carnation Condensed Milk - Saturate a cotton ball with condensed milk and apply to the cold sore for 15 minutes to soothe the pain and expedite healing

White Vinegar - apply vinegar liberally to the cold sore. The vinegar kills bacteria, dries up the cold sore and eases the swelling and pain

Milk of Magnesia - using a cotton ball, dab the cold sore with milk of magnesia. The antacid dries up the acid in the lesion...

Good luck...hope these help...Happy Holidays

I bought abreva but did not find it very effective, save your money.
The alcohol on a q tip will work as well and a lot cheaper.
