On my manual it says I have a Right Rear Speaker and a Left Rear Speaker and a Right Front Speaker and a Left Front Speaker. The problem is I don't know which ones go right or left. On the rear of my receiver where I hook up the speaker cables, on top of the terminals it says what this terminal is for. There are six terminals and they say: L(left) front, R(right) front, center, sub woofer, L(left) rear, R(right) rear. I automatically know where to hook up the sub woofer and the center speaker because there is only one of them. However, there are two front speakers and rear speakers. My main question is: are each front and rear speakers specially made for one position (left or right), or it doesn't matter where I place them? I'm just hoping I didn't hook up a front speaker that is specially made for the left to the right front speaker terminal.

sitting in your chair, looking at the tv,the right front speaker is on your right. the right rear is on your right. just make sure the speakers are connected properly. speaker wire has 2 wires, with 1 of them having a ridge, make sure they are connected to the same terminals on the receiver and speakers.

It doesn't matter whether you put the Left Front speaker on the right front or the left front because it's the same as the Right Front speaker. Same applies for the Left/Right rear speakers. The Right Front, Left Front, and center speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent static so they need to be in the front.

It doesn't matter which speaker goes on the left or right. But what you do want to make sure is that they are wired correctly.

The speaker output and input terminals are color coded, usually red and black. Make sure the wire connected fron the red output is connected to the red input on the back of the speaker. same goes for the black inputs/outputs.

Failure to do this properly, will cause the speakers to be out of phase and will effect the sound quality.

If your front and rear speakers are identical, then it doesn't matter what goes where.
If one pair is larger than the other, then the larger ones are for the front.
