if ur doctor thinks u need them, & u think u need them, have a talk with ur mom, or better yet, hve ur doc, talk 2 ur mom. they work very well 4 me, & i feel no side effects. some ppl r diff, but ur doc will work with u till uns get it right. by the way, how old r u? if ur of age, screw mom & take the meds. u can tell her or not. if u tell her & she starts bicting, , tell her, its ur life, u will do what u think best. like it or not. by the way, i've been on them 4 years. o, u could also take mom 2 the librarie[the place they have books, lol] and do research 2 gether. good luck with mom & happy holidays.

Just because the side effects are listed, does it mean the you will get those side effects. There are some that seem to have fewer than others...talk to the doctor about your concerns. If you can get her to really research depression...read books, read info on internet, etc., she will see that medication is such a good option and that the good far outways the bad. Try to talk to her rationally about how you feel...not confrontationally. Let her know that you really want to feel better and truly feel the this is your best option and are willing to do what it takes to go through with the treatment. Good luck!

Meds saved my life. No offense, but your mom probably does not know anything about the medication. Bad side affects are caused by not being responsible with your medication. Take it EVERY day, give it time to work, and don't ever stop taking it without consulting a doctor.

You can't imagine how much better you will feel Is it better to go on suffering, OR talking to the doctor about medication? To me it's a no-brainer.

I think that if a parent refuses treatment for their child that has a diagnosed psychiatric problem that is serious and greatly interferes with their kid's life, then that is medical neglect.

I have struggled with early onset bipolar disorder, ADHD & a few other things since very early in childhood. It makes me very angry that they did not try medication with me until many, many years later. My life might have turned out very different if I had been properly treated at a younger age. Instead, it's pretty much been one long disaster.

If you live in the US and are 14 or older, you do not need parental permission for your medical care and she doesn't even have to know. This law was passed about 4 years ago and it is a federal law.

If you cannot take medicine your alternative is to know how to suffer, so that you do not suffer.
Have the courage to experience the depression and it will be better. Running and hiding just causes suffering. Feeling it totally is best.
