Some prisoners do have Internet access, but it depends on the type of prison:
Supermax, Maximum security, Close security, and Medium security prisons generally do not have Internet access.
In many states prisoners in Minimum security prisons do have Internet access.

Varies by state. And within a state, it could vary by the security level of the facility the inmate is in.
Over 2 years ago, the feds had a law stating no inmates could have Internet access.
Just because someone is in prison, does not mean they behave. The state dept of Corrections I worked for, had me to provide computer files on our inmates - every month - so we could check to be sure they were not running SCAMS. Like tax refunds while in the middle of a 20 year term.

Almost no prisoners have internet access. A few on alternate detention or perhaps trustees could have some, but as a rule no.

I think not. If they do, they are doing it illegally.
