boy a lot of people here sure did miss the point hehe
im no atheist.. but the question is intriguing. now just imagine if at some point in the distant future, man could actually manufacture an entire human body by putting together the molecules, cells and organs. And there in the lab, there they would all stand around, waiting to flip the switch a la Frankestein and witness the awsome power of human ability in the creation of life.. then .. PHZZZT!
nothing..
"woops, we seem to have forgotten something"
----
ah well, that's a silly scenario :)
i'd be interested to know where vaughn got his info..
and Revenge, i think phxcity's question ought to be your next ;)
now that IS a mind-bender!

This isn't a challenge, it's not even classified as logic based on the assumption that there is such a thing as a "creator god" who creates things out of thin blue air. Living beings come into existence due to a certain set of biological circumstances and if one thing is out of place then the "creation" fails.
If a creator being did exist and the only one able to dish out life, then why is it that cloning is going on and successfully at that? Heck there was just a cloned cat, mated and successfully gave birth to a litter of kittens which proves said cat is functionally normal as another living being.
You need to get your head out of your fake science and fantasy world and into reality. None of this has any ability to prove or disprove that some creator exists. Your point is about as "witty" as a lump of clay.

Oy vay - the existence of a creator as mythos is a very valid concept. Meaning he is the hero of the story by which we live (read up on Joseph Campbell - Occidental Mythology and Thou art That). Humans can and do create living organisms every day, beginning with the countless children that are born - after all "God" didn't put any effort into that. Second, we are now on the forefront of Genetic Engineering and advances in cloning, in a sense we could and probably will create new living organisms. God is not an ATM out of which blessings flow after the correct prayer. God is awesome and the Mystery of God is beyond understanding

I accept your challenge. Ok, your challenge presents a couple of pretty drastic assumptions, if you are right. First, you assume a creator exists- and as you can believe that without any proof, I can't argue even with facts. That's cool. But do you know any of the ins and outs of reproduction? If a man and a woman try very hard at all, they can create a living being. There is no creator- just a series of self-replicating and evolving creatures. And genetics are just now getting to the point where "artificially" created life may be possible- if the sex thing doesn't change your mind, ask this question again in a couple decades.

in addition , why aren't things continually popping out of thin air, why arent new things constantly coming into existence, especially since we have all the material now.
No one has ever seen anything evolve, and change into something else, it is a fairy tale created by men , looking for a unnamed God. It is just a creator in the negative, humans are not capable of arriving at any other conclusion than God. Atheism is just negative belief.
Evolution is just a psychological blinder for belief in God.
Yes sometimes unbelievers(the misguided ones) think that somehow using things that are already in existence and do the work of life for them, because they have the laws within them already planted is the same as non life becoming life. No sorry.
Something has to come from something and since there is something ,we know there could never just have been nothing. Something has to be as ridiculous and absurd as God existing forever .
You might as well accept that it IS GOD.
If I must choose what has existed forever, why would I choose some imperfect thing, when it makes more sense to choose that this thing that is necessarliy self existent, from which the earth and seas and all that is in them comes from is God.
You choose to believe that the more perfect comes from the less perfect, instead of the less perfect comes from the more perfect.
When the laws of nature dictate otherwise , which you claim to follow. Things tend to break down , towards death and imperfection , not up

Not an atheist...but...
It has been done in the lab. A cocktail of organic compounds exposed to intermittent pulses of electricity has resulted in single cell activity.
Besides if the fundamentalists are right... the earth isn't old enough to have had dinosaurs, let alone the generations of creatures before them. So, was a populated world destroyed to make the earth, or could the big bang and the following processes be the mechanism of creation. Seven days or 7 billion years... what would it matter to an immortal?

With that same logic one could argue, "If there is no creator, why can't people invent time machines? We should be able to do it without an intelligent and purposeful creator of the universe, if we really wanted to." This line of thinking makes no sense. Just because humanity hasn't developed the means to do a particular thing does not prove is disprove the existence of a deity. I guess if someone like you argued 110 years ago that there is a God because people can't fly, you'd have been pretty red in the face once the Wright Brothers showed up.

You want life created by man ...and you want it straight out of thin air...? (Not to demanding, are you?)
Are these the conditions you've set before you'll give up your belief in your fantasy God ?????
Okay.. My turn.
I want God to show up tonight and calibrate his son's birthday, live on every TV station broadcast over the planet's airways and cable systems. Why doesn't he ever think of doing that simple thing? So...get all your Christian friends together and pray for it until it happens... if not this year than next year or the year after, etc. That ought to keep you busy enough for the rest of your silly God-praising life and the rest of us won't have to tolerate your juvinille mentality any longer.
Thanks.
Happy Holiday

POST SCRIPT: Bet cha science makes a scratch life form before Jesus can sew a decent parachute and show his silly face on earth?
FYI Science has already synthesized simple peptides and the human genome is becoming more and more available as we speak... loads of bacterial genomes are already known.. artificial amino acids are in development.
I hope you'll be willing to accept the truth when it arrives at your doorstep - and no hard feelings, okay? Just try to be in the mood to eat a bunch of crow because creation and God are about to go straight down the tubes.

Can They (human gods of all other religions, except Islam) Create a Fly?
73. O people, here is a parable that you must ponder carefully: the idols you set up beside GOD can never create a fly, even if they banded together to do so. Furthermore, if the fly steals anything from them, they cannot recover it; weak is the pursuer and the pursued.
74. They do not value GOD as He should be valued. GOD is the Most Powerful, the Almighty.
75. GOD chooses from among the angels messengers, as well as from among the people. GOD is Hearer, Seer.
76. He knows their past and their future. To GOD belongs the ultimate control of all matters.
77. O you who believe, you shall bow, prostrate, worship your Lord, and work righteousness, that you may succeed.

Babies for one. But beyond that, I don't get your logic. Atheists don't believe that humans are the creators, they just don't believe a "god" created everything. They believe creation happened as a matter of evolution, science and well... the right conditions. I don't see how you came to that conclusion.
But as for other creations, humans do create other living beings.
and as we've seen with cloning, we can even do it without sex.
good question though.
