He is 10 mths old, solid black and 58 lbs. I just got him for Christmas and the people who owned him before named him Chewy. I dont like that name at all, as he doesnt look like a chewy nor does he chew on things (it just doesnt fit).
Also do you think that he will respond to a new name being 10 mths old?

I love it when people name their dogs regular old human names. I think J.J would be really cute, or maybe Eddie or Stan...haha. Sounds immature I know but I think it brings more character, you don't know many people with a poodle named Stan right? :D

It will respond to a new name. Just give it time and repetition. I suggest Jellybean. It's a cute and bouncy name, just like a poodle!

Type in dog names in a search and lots of sites will come up with 1000's of names you can chose from. It is your dog so name it yourself.

He should be fine learning a new name, but it will be much easier for him if you choose a name that sounds similiar. So two syllables and ending in the ee sound. Stewie, Louie, Blacky, etc etc,.

Good luck, and enjoy your new companion. :)

If you bond with him and re-name him he will respond to you, most likely.
Try thinking of something or some one you love. and, creating your name from that.
