The normal life expectancy of the domestic cat is seventeen, and twenty is no longer uncommon.

You can figure a cat's equivalent human age like this:

At one year a cat is about as mature as a human of fifteen.
At two the cat is about as mature as a human of twenty-three.
After that they age about four times as fast as we do, so you can add four equivalent years for each actual year of the cat's age. So a three year old cat is like a human of twenty-seven, and so on.

No one can really determine how long an animal will live no matter how well you take care of them. I'm glad you are choosing to keep your kitten indoors. That increases their life span by a few years. The best thing you can do to help them live a long happy life, is to show them all the love in the world that you love them. My cat, at 4 1/2 years old, finally had to have a life-saving surgery to repair damage done to his colon from a disease called Megacolon. The doctors said he had a 20% chance of living past the surgery, but I took the chance anyway. I'm happy to say that that was 5 months ago and the doctors still can't believe how he made it thru and they said the biggest thing that helped him recover and make it thru, was all the love and support and talking to that I gave him. Talk to your kitten as if he/she were a human being. And best of all, give them all the love in the world. Also remember to get them their shots annually, even if they are indoors cats, and get them check-ups. Good luck!!!

A cat is considered a kitten from start to a minimum of one 12 months previous. After that they are considered a cat. exterior cats have a existence expectancy of 8 years, indoor cats 12. in case you feed your cat a sturdy nutrients ordinary, and take him into the vet many times then they are in a position to stay to be 29 years previous or maybe older.

There really no way to tell. The average life expectancy of a cat is around 13-15 years, although I have heard of them living to over 20.

If he or she is healthy, has gotten his shots and deworming medicines and a regular visit to his veteranerian, and he has a lot of love and care, he will live around 15-20 years. Just take good care of it, get it spayed if its a girl, or neutered if its a boy and everything will be fine. Getting them fixed means they will have a lesser chance of getting cancer in their private parts. Don't worry, I just got a kitten too and he is 5 months old. I cant bear to see him die either!!

If you take proper care of it, make sure it goes to the vet when it needs to, feed it good quality food then you have plenty of years ahead of you. Cats can live for over 20 years, especially if you keep them as indoor cats, which reduces a large amount of potential harm to them.

I've had cats my whole life and many of them have lived into their late teens, one died at 21! Indoor cats live much longer than outdoor cats. To give your cat the best life and a healthy life, they should be spayed or neutered, given lots of love, attention, & affection, a quality diet, environment enrichment with toys and play, cat furniture (indoor "cat trees" to climb & scratch), and regular vet checkups.

That said, you must know that all living things will die someday. The goal is to give them the best quality of life you can, make lots of happy memories, and enjoy your lives while you are together.

My mom's cat just passed this year we estimate she was between 18-21 years old. I had another cat that disappeared at 13. I think it varies for each cat, but you can to the best you can with regualr vet visits, exercise, good diet and lots of lovin.
