Digital cameras need to be powered...and using the LCD screen and flash or shooting 'movies' etc, can drain battery power quite quickly.
So, you need to either use Alkaline batteries such as Energizer e2 Lithium (which are powerful but expensive and also throwaway), or rechargeable batteries (NiMH 2500mAh) and charger, which are more cost effective.

First, if you still have the packaging check the specs to make sure you're buying the right batteries. Also check to see if the batteries are supposed to be alkaline or not.

Another thing to check is the buttons that are being used on the camera when you turn it on. Perhaps there's something going on with the flash that's draining the battery. Depends on the make of the camera because I'm not familiar with Samsung.

Good luck!

Cameras use something called electricity. Magic men have figured out how to put electricty in little containers called batteries. The camera eats this electricity to work. After all the electricity is eaten, the camera is hungry for new batteries. There are magic batteries called rechargeables that can be recharged over and over.
Expensive cameras DO come with chargers. Your camera is not expensive. It is cheap. You got what you paid for.

Your cam should have a 'time off' option. If the power is constantly on in stand by then this could be draining your batteries. If this is the case then you will need to set the cam up so that it turns off when not in use. Some batteries can be part of a faulty batch but it sounds to me like it could be a warranty job for your camera. If so, find the warranty card and contact the manufacturer with regards to your problem.
