When butter and salt just aren’t enough, try sprinkling any of the following over a bag of popped popcorn:

1/2 to 3/4 cup grated Parmesan
1 to 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
1 to 2 teaspoons ranch salad-dressing mix
3/4 to 1 1/2 teaspoons wasabi powder

Furikake 振り掛け (ふりかけ) is any dry Japanese condiment meant to be sprinkled on top of rice. It typically consists of a mixture of dried and ground fish, sesame seeds, chopped seaweed, sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate. Other flavorful ingredients such as katsuobushi (sometimes indicated on the package as bonito), salmon, egg, vegetables, etc. are often added to the mix.

Furikake can be found in most Asian groceries, and the variety with katsuobushi in the Ethnic Food aisle of most major supermarkets.

Furikake is often brightly coloured, and flaky.

Garlic salt, or cheese powder are a couple ideas. Kernel Season's Gourmet Popcorn Seasoning also makes several flavors such as Apple Cinnamon, Bar B Q, Cajun, Chocolate Marshmallow, Jalapeno, Parmesean and Garlic, Ranch, Sour Cream and Onion, Nacho, and White Cheddar.

Ingredients 1 cup popcorn
2 tbsp oil
250g butter
4 tbsp honey
1/2 cup sugar

Method:
Pop popcorn.
Stir in butter, honey and sugar over low heat until it dissolves.
Bring to the boil.
Boil uncovered for 8 minutes.
Pour over popcorn, stir until coated.

Years ago I used to put brewers yeast on popcorn...I liked it at the time.
Powdered parmesean or romano cheese is good. I've tossed popcorn with my homemade pesto (which has very little oil) and that was really yummy, although a bit messy to eat.

Butterbuds ,its in a shaker, like salt but its a butter you can put on popcorn thats non fat and it is very good.you should be able to get butterbuds at any grocery in the seasons section....You can also sprinkle it on vegtables...........

seasoned salt, mrs. dash, or for a sweet version...lightly salt and bury mini peanut butter cups down in the bowl.....its yummy
