When you are in love, you want to give your whole heart and soul to that person. There is nothing that you wouldn't do to make that person feel special to put a smile on that persons face to want for that person more than you could ever want for yourself. To love someone some or most of the same applies but your heart and soul lets you know that you are in love.

"Being in love" I think refers to the romantic feelings you have toward someone, which tends to be less deep-rooted and wears off faster. Actually loving someone does not refer to a feeling, it is the longer lasting process of caring for someone (and hopefully showing it through your actions.)

Loving someone is like you care deeply for them but being in love is like they have captured your heart and you can do is think of them and wonder what they're doing. Everywhere you go , they're all you see, hear and think of (even through other people).

loving someone is only possible when you know them truly. Anyone can be in love but it is a temporary feeling.
