There is the old "lost watch or ring" trick.
Go into a bar, and ask the tender if any one turned in a ring (or watch or something) pretend you are really upset about losing it because it is a valuable family heirloom. Tell then you will offer a $1000.00 reward to get it back, leave your phone # (fake one) and leave.
20 minutes later your freind goes into the bar and 'finds" the ring or watch (a cheap piece o crap) and asks the bartended if he thinks its woth anything. He will think he is going to collect a $1000.00 reward, so offer it to him, for 200.
Take the 200 and hit the road! he will call for his reward only to find no one to answer the phone, and he is stuck with a cheap piece of costume jewlry for which he paid 200 bucks...
He deserves to lose the 200.....he was greedy and thought he was cheating you out of 800. Greedy folks should laways be cheated for as much as possible. It is moraly wrong to allow them to keep their money.

I had a friend who was a bit of a town celebrity. He went around with a bull horn on the back of pick-up selling raffle tickets, at 50 cents each, for a a chance to win the family race horse. They had to get money for a medical emergency. He was to announce the winner a week later in the parking lot of a popular hang out. That day he showed up and very apologetically announced that the race horse had died. He gave the winner back his 50 cents

Study up on being a quick-change artist.
Put an ad in your local paper "How to get Rich Quick" guiding them to send $5.00 (or $1.00) depending on the size of your city, then print up a piece of paper telling how to do just that, placing a newspaper ad.....I believe this is legal in all states.

I might point out the law does not see the humor in it and it will cost you thousands in legal fees. Laugh that off as soon as you get paroled.

Why in God's world would you want to play such a trick? Are you sure it's a trick?
