can you use another usb cord to plug into your psp?

I don't think so. I tried one that I use for my Digital camera. And while it fits it does not actually work. So you best bet is to get the PSP specific one. The one I got from Targe it retractable and has a charger cable attached. So it also charges the PSP when plugged into my PC, when the PC is on.
