I'm sorry, but no responsible breeder would give you a puppy at less than 8 weeks. I also must question why you want one so young - it's really bad for the puppy!

Please adopt! I know you want a puppy, but consider an adult. I guarantee they'll be just as fun, and they really need a good home. Look at the rescue site below. They're pretty cute!!!

Be very careful! Don't buy a cheap Chihuahua, no matter how cute it is. We purchased one for $400 from someone who claimed to be a breeder for years. They said it would be around $200 extra for the papers...since we did not plan on breeding him, we did not see any reason to have papers. Well Hans the Chihuahua had a stroke when he was just 4 months old! :( -- He was apparently born with fluid in his brain which I've been told is quite common in chihuahuas. So he had to be put down...and it was the most horrible thing I've gone though (having to tell my two little kids).

So, I would strongly recommend you worry more about finding a respectable breeder that has no history of any birth defects. If you get a male you should be able to find one with all the papers for around $600. The prices have seemed to come down a bit, since the popularity has dropped a bit. But I will tell you they are the cutest and funniest dogs ever! They are crazy hyper, and the have the smallest bladders ever, so just make sure you are ok with them having accidents every singe day while they are puppies. Also, you can littler box train them which is pretty cute! :) --

Also, make sure you really dig into the breeder line, to minimize the risk of this happening to you. Also, check into guarantees with the breeder if something like this were to happen...and make sure you get it in writing. Good luck!

First, a puppy should never be sold before it is at least 8 weeks old, or even better up to 12 weeks old. At six weeks, the puppy is way too young to be taken away from it's mother. It's too soon! If you decide to buy a Chihuahua, please buy one from a good Chihuahua Breeder and not from a pet store. Pet store puppies, come from Puppy Mills, where they are abused, and never properly taken care of. You can type Chihuahua Breeders in Texas in your search bar, and should be able to find what you are looking for.

try checking the classifieds, its hard to find chihuahuas in the shelters because i tried looking for one here in the new england area. The classifieds are great because usually the dogs there are cheaper than those from pet shops. my friend got hers at the retailer and it cost her 1000 dollars so check the classifieds
