you want to go home, but there are two paths in front of you, one to the left and the other to the right. You are not sure which one to take. There are two statues at the intersection. One of them always lies whereas the other always tells the truth. You can ask only one question, (NOT one to each statue, you can ask one ONLY) and you need to ask such a question that you will know which path to take. You do not know which statue lies and which one tells the truth. Which question will you ask?

Ask one statue "Which path will the other statue say is the path home?", find out which path it tells you, then take the other path to home.
If you asked the truthful statue, it will tell you the lying statue's response, which will be the incorrect path. If you asked the lying statue, it will lie about the truthful statue's response, which will also be the incorrect path. Either way, don't take the path the statue tells you...take the other one.

"What will the other statue tell me if I ask it which path takes me home?"

If he asks the truthful statue, he will hear the other statue´s lie, so he knows what is NOT the path home.
If he asks the lying statue, he will hear the opposite of the truthful statue´s answer, with the same result.
So, by assuming the opposite of the answer he is told is true, you will find your way home.

Ask the one on the right, becasue the right is always right and the left is always wrong. Ask it do I take the right path, and if it says no then take the right path.
