I cannot even imagine any possible reason you would even consider a cellphone for a 6 yr-old.
There will come a time(all too soon) when the child will get at the age where all his peers will have cellphones and he will want to "fit" in.
But by that time, there is the possibility that the "cellphone frenzy fad" will have run it's course and the question will be moot.
But I say a 6 year old has no more need for a cellphone than he or she needs a motorbike to ride back and forth to school.

I think you are certainly right. I can't see any possible reason why such a little boy would need a mobile telephone!! Does that mean he is in Year One at school? I truly think your little boy is having a lend of you. Who does he think he needs to ring? Perhaps you should tell him that yes you will buy him a mobile telephone as soon as he gets a full - time job, bank account, has a driver's licence, enrols to vote and matures into a responsible member of society!!!! When he complains that he does'nt understand a single word you just said ask him how he thinks he's going to read and pay his phone bill each month then if he doesn't understand the words you just used?..........................or perhaps you're having a lend of us??? R U?? Probably, giggle, giggle, giggle, giggle.................................

The only kids I know at that age with mobiles are spoilt brats. He's a bit young. I think they only need them when they are playing or meandering further than a six year old would/should.

What on earth does a 6 year old boy need with a cell phone??? Most of them loose their toys, how is he supposed to be responsible for a phone???

no unless you want to pay for it because he obviously can't get a job unless you believe in child labor. if he is asking you this young then who knows what kind of questions he will ask when he is older. Why not get him a car when he's 10? come on. he needs to be a kid not an adult right now.

Quite honestly I think he's too young but that's not important. You are his parent and it is YOUR decision! You can't always be popular with your child or with other parents, you must do what you think is right for your child regardless. So have some more confidence and go with your gut instinct.

NO! A 6 year old does NOT need a cell phone...as if he even knows how to use a cell phone.

Why even ask? He is your son, your responsibility. If your feeling is no then the answer is no. Trust your instincts God gave them to you for a reason
