As my wife does not eat meat, I made smoked salmon parcels stuffed with a mousse of salmon, horseradish and dill. To follow we had sea bass with roast potatoes, red cabbage and Brussel sprouts. After that we had cheese including a lovely Colsten Basset Stilton, then apple crumble. Taittinger Comtes de Champagnes worked well with this. Happy Christmas!

Roast turkey; gravy; two different kinds of dressing; mashed potatoes; candied yams; green bean casserole; baked beans with ham pieces (not bacon); dried sweet corn casserole; cranberry sauce (from the grocery store and not homemade, I'm sorry to say); homemade cranberry relish; chow chow; green olives; sweet gherkins; homemade rolls, both white and whole wheat; homemade wine, water, or coffee.

Dessert was pumpkin pie, and/or warm apple crisp, both with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, and/or Christmas cookies.

Everything except the cranberry sauce, the olives and gherkins, and the ice cream was homemade.

I think I tasted everything!

We are starting with Celery and Celery Root Soup with Roquefort Croutons (Cooking Light recipe). Then, we are having Roast Goose with Prunes, Chestnuts, and Armagnac (from epicurious.com). For side dishes, we are having a Parsnip and Pear Puree and Chard with Shallots, Walnuts, and Pancetta (both from Eating Well). For dessert, we're having Chocolate Lava Cakes with Pistachio Cream (from Cooking Light). Mmm! The goose smells so good roasting. I can't wait to eat!

Today at my mother's we had ham, poppyseed chicken, hashbrown casserole, greenbeans, corn, candied sweet potatoes, salad, sour dough bread and wheat rolls, jello salad, carrot cake, lemon cake, Southern Chess pie and pumpkin pie (eight people and new grandbaby Zeke :)).

Yesterday after church we had immediate-family and friends-like-family Christmas and I made pot roast with potatoes and carrots, cornish hens, twice-baked potatoes, green beans, salad, cheese pennies, corn, white rolls, chocolate pie, pecan pie, iced cookies and various homemade candies (nine people and new grandbaby Zeke :)).

Saturday night for in-laws Christmas, we went out for dinner, then 19 people (and new grandbaby Zeke :))returned to my house for games of Dirty Santa and assorted homemade candies, 7-layer dip, vegies & ranch, iced cookies, pecan pie and cheese pennies.

Hmmm.... wonder what's for dinner tonight! :)

All fruits are fresh vegetables. A "vegetable" is a plant, any part of which can be used for food.

In the superstore, fruits are usually picked out much too soon. Some are rocks, many are bitter. Some of the fruit and vegetables are typical right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.
