A dog (Afghan or not) can live in any situation you introduce it to. Socialization and training is key to any living situation.

An afghan hound can live with one person or a family - they're pretty laid back dogs as a rule. Theyr'e totally awesome dogs - will always be my favourite breed!

Afgans are an rather aloof dog. They are not very affectionate and most of the time they really feel that humans were put on earth to servie them.
They are a sight hound and were bred to hunt by seeing things and chasing them down over long distances. They were treated well and lived in the tents with te humans. However they are not really loveie and do not like to be huged and kissed on They do not really care much for strangers but are not aggressive they are just not friendly with them, Most times they tend to ingnore people.
They do fine as a dog with one person. They are not a family type dog. They can be very stubborn and tought to train for much.
They can be housebroken but beyond that and sit that is about all you are goin to get from them. They are not great at obedience. They are not bad they just don't care.
I had one years ago and he was a great dog but he did not care for my husband at the time and would not let him touch him. Only me. He would only eat for me and would sleep by my side of the bed. My husband couuld not put a leash on him and he did not go to him to be petted.
