religion is a manmade tool used to control and manipulate the masses of men and women and children into living according to how certain individuals feel that people should live their lives

Religion on its own is not a mockey. Humans need spirituality / religion in some way in order to function wholly (and yes, I'll argue that point with anyone who so desires :0 ).

What IS a mockery is the way ORGANIZED religion often operates: Where if you don't do what the *church* tells you to do, when they tell you to do it, how you do it and what you feel like while you're doing it... now THAT can be considered a mockery.

Instead I'd like to consider it a tragedy. Certain people and groups prey on the vulnerable side of people and twist it for their own perverse pleasures.

Is that all organized religion? Nope, not by a long shot. If I could tell everyone just one thing it would be to keep your wits about you when dealing with spiritual matters just the same as if you were driving a car or writing a report. It's a deeply personal, deeply emotional subject but it can still be approached with logic and reason.

Blessings,
Zimmi

Religion is not for everyone. But a lot of people need that type of structure and guidance. That John Lennon song, "Imagine there's no religion". Although I personally don't follow any religion for the reason you are saying, if there wasn't religion, there'd be a lot more chaos because people's sense of right and wrong would be corrupt.

2000 yr. old instructions were neither intended for, nor apply to, modern humans. Without a few modifications, they're worthless to us, no, worse than worthless.
