Adam, by his willful disobedience, in violating God’s “Constitutional” Provisional Law, him and Eve, suffered the penalty of the injunction of this law, which was set forth in the Divine Commandment before hand. Introducing Satan’s sinful and rebellious nature, into the human race. Which, in turn, gave birth to Sin and (passed on from Generation to Generation) through the reproductive, corruptible seed of man.

For death is the “physical evidence” for the inherited condition of Sin. Adam introduced a three-fold death in the human race. (1) Spiritual, (2) Physical, and (3) Eternal.

In the garden, he suffered 1st the Spiritual death, with in-turn brought upon him an Eternal death. If it had not been for the Lord’s Self-sacrifice and Self Provisional lamb, that he killed to provide an atonement (the covering) the coats of skins for Adam and Eve. Whereby him and Eve, received a pardon for their sin. But, started the Blood Atonement.

Adams physical death was Old Age his time was up, as Jesus says in Matthew 10:30; But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Adam lived 930, which would be 127 years before the birth of Noah, nine generations after Adam. In other words, Adam's lifespan would have overlapped Lamech, (the father of Noah at least fifty years.

Adam died from sin. When he disobeyed God, the consequence of the action was "death". It began with the death of his spirit, which separated him from God. That was followed (939 years later) with the death of his body. As no specific "cause of death" is given in scripture, it was probably a death of "natural causes" - meaning old age.
