Since I was in the 3rd grade, I've wanted to be a hair stylist, but I was so scared to do it, becuz my parents wanted me to graduate from college. I did it. I majored in psychology knowing I was going to go right in to cosmetology school. Well, nevertheless, I let my mama talk me into going to graduate school, I did it and dropped out. Now my husband doesn't think now isn't the right time. Well I opened my own savings account w/out him knowing it. I got a great job working for the financial industry and I get good salary and commission but I know my passion is hair and beauty. My plan is to save money for hair school quit my job and go full time. I'm giving myself one year. I'll be 24 in June, is it too late???

I say go for it!!! Honestly, I am glad your mother talked you into college and here is why. I believe that everyone should follow their dreams, but you should have something to fall back on (which, thanks to your mama and your own hard work, you do!). You should become a stylist if that is what you love, and I wish you much success!

I did almost the same exact thing. I worked at a salon as a receptionist and product cordinator through college to get experience and learn about the industry. My parents wanted me to go to school and get a degree so i got one in business to help me with my ultimate goal of having my own salon. I'm currently getting my mba while looking a cosmetology schools and work for a business lending organization to which gives me experience with learning the business from a lenders prospective, while saving my money for the salon.

It helps to have supportive people and as long as you have your degree to fall back on and past work experience then no one has anything use as a arguement against the idea.
