Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Chevy Impala, Ford Crown Victoria. These are all top sellers with excellent reliability. The Crown Vic is huge and stands up to cop car & taxi abuse every day. The Accord has the highest resale value.

My brother just bought a Ford 500. It has all the room you could need and one of the biggest trunks I've ever seen. I own a Dodge Charger and while it isn't technically a family sedan it is four doors and has plenty of room. The new 2007 have an all-wheel drive option instead of the rear-wheel drive standard. The Charger and the 500 have every safety feature you could ever ask for as well.

Go car shopping and discover it for yourself. Make sure and have the "Gang" along to see how you all fit in and the kind of space you desire. Don't forget to allow for that family vacation too, (called luggage space)
I personally bought a Chevy 15 passenger van to use for the family trips and stuff. Gets 13-15 mpg around town, and averages around 17 on the highway, and the ride and comfort is nice. There is 7 of us. We remove the rear bench seat at vacation time and BAM, theres lots of luggage space and easy to get to. And the view when traveling! You should be able to pick up one of these with around 15,000 miles and 6 months old for 19000 to a little over 20000 bucks. They don't keep their value like a suburban SUV type pickup, but when raising a family, budget comes 1st. Good Luck.

It would be hard to beat the Ford 500 if you need the space. Honda Accord is a little smaller, and is an excellent choice.

I love my prius. Great car, reliable and excellent gas mileage...plus it gets LOTS of attention when I leave the metropolitan area. AND it's much bigger on the inside than it looks.
