Both were in different weight classes I know. However, which one was a better boxer. A lot of people say that Sugar Ray Robinson was the best boxer EVER, for any class. I sure would have like to seen him box. I was born in 1977 so...anyway, was he a better boxer than Muhammad Ali?

Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest boxer ever! Ali was also a marvelous boxer particularly for a heavyweight and he learned a lot from watching films of the great Sugar Ray Robinson.

Muhammad Ali even admitted that Sugar Ray Robinson was the best boxer pound-for-pound in boxing history. If "The Greatest" says he was than I'll back what he says. ESPN ranked Ali as the greatest boxer of all time. Robinson was second. Joe Louis was third.

Sugar Ray Robinson pound for pound, much better but not as popular as the Ali saga. Ali was the beginning of big boxing bucks. Plus, more televisions worldwide and owned during Ali's greatness.

Robinson had alot more fights than Ali had and he won most of them. They were very similar in style I will say that Robinson pound for pound was better.

Saw one Robinson fight, and two of Alis.

Ali is better. Faster movements of feet, gracious evasion.
