Most germs don't pass between species so it is unlikely that he got sick from human members of the family.

If he is sneezing alot he may have an upper respitory infection. Other symptoms of this include watery eyes and sniffling. He most likely caught it from other cats that he came in contact with before you got him. It is important to take him to the vet, upper respitory disease is ussually curable, especially if cats recieve prompt care.

The sneezing could be caused by other things such as the brand of litter you are using or dust, airfresheners and cleaners around the house. However, since cats can potentially die from an upper respitory infection I think it would be good to bring him to the vet to at least rule this out first. Although it is Christmas most vets will probably be open again in a few days. It is not completley urgent but I would suggest you do it as soon as possible.

And on another note Jeff (above) probably shouldn't give retarded advice that would drown a cat since you'd be surprised how many people might actually be dumb enough to take it.

cats can not get cold from humans they are two different things along with humans can not get colds from cats. get some teramyasin( this is a drug) you can buy it at a drug store. put it in his/her food for 14 days if he is still sick take him to the vet. but this should clear it up. it would be a good idea to give him wet food and make sure that he is drinking lots of water.

cats can get colds. but they are cat colds. the cat didn't get it from you and you can't get it from the cat.

but cats can get very sick from colds. is this possibly a cold, an allergy, or maybe a sickness that the cat should have been vaccinated against? i'd take the cat to the vet. it could be just allergies or something.

My cat did the same thing. It'll pass over after 1 or 2 weeks. Just keep feeding it properly.
