Me and my husband were thinking of taking our two children, daughter- 3 and son-20 months old to Disney World (they'll be this age when we take them in March). Have any parents out there taken children around these ages to Disney World? If you have, please tell me if it was worth it, if you would do it again, and which park(s) benefited your family the most.
Do they allow small children to ride with their parents? (like at magic kingdom)
thank you! ;)

I actually just came back from DisneyWorld with my 26 month old -- he first went when he was 9months, and even then he could ride on Pirates of the Caribbean and "Its a Small World"

There are rides there for children of all ages...

Your 3-year old is at a perfect age to believe in the Magic of Disney... seeing the Princesses face to face is something that will make her face light up.

As far as memories... they will live on in photographs & videos.

Be sure to take advantage of Disney's FREE Photopass system... it allows the whole family to gather in a picture with no obligation to purchase.

They sell their photos in 5x7s for $12.95 a shot with options to add a free border -- but a great money saver (if you have the money of course) is to purchase their CD... they will place all your pictures on a CD and give you exclusive copyrights... so that you can have your photos reprinted at any store or online merchant (ie: Snapfish!) You of course won't get the border option this way - but you can always PHOTOSHOP it!

The CD will cost you about $100 - but will save you money if you like more than 6 photos (at 13 bucks a shot!)

So in all that jabber... yes... its a good time to take them to Disney - granted if you can afford it!

---

BTW, I must have rode Dumbo 5,000 times with my son...

---
Also, to save money, try to stay at their Value Resorts (All-Star Movie, Sports, Music) -- its about $79 a night and for $10 a nite extra they'll give you a fridge -- which is good to store Milk, peanut butter & jelly to make for lunch to save on food costs!

Also by staying at these resorts they offer you FREE Parking at all resorts or a complimentary bus-shuttle to the parks... (If possible take a car... you don't want to rely on a bus schedule with a tired 3-year old!)

Get a AAA card membership - they offer discounts on park tickets & hotels.. and even rent-a-cars.

Best of luck!

Ok, I'm sorry, but I don't think you've recieved the best answers. Some are quite negative and really weren't given much thought. Yes, it will certainly be worth it. Even if the two of them don't remember the experience, they'll enjoy it while they're there and you'll always have those memories. The look on your daughter's face when she sees Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, or whatever her favorite Disney Character is, will be unforgettable and it will bring tears to your eyes. To be honest, I'm only 20 and I do not have any children and haven't been to Walt Disney World with young children. But when I go and I see all those little girls so incredibly happy to see Cinderella on stage, it just makes my day. This past summer I was crying during Cinderellabration. It's just the most amazing feeling to see a child so genuinely happy and excited. I can't wait to have my own children and share the experience with them. I definitely be bringing them as often as I can. Hopefully, at least once a year as they're growing up.

Anyway, here's a link to a website that is SO extremely helpful in planning a Walt Disney World vacation. This particular page is devoted to Infant and Toddler FAQ. It answers questions like,

"Is it possible to take a trip to Walt Disney World with an infant or toddler and still have a great time?"

"What is the purpose of taking an infant if he/she isn't going to remember anything about it?"

"I have been to Disney before and have seen kids and families screaming and not having much fun at all. Won't any trip with a child be like that?"

"Will I still be able to enjoy the Disney experience if I am taking care of a child the whole time?"

"How can I tell if my child is ready to take a trip like this?"

The different sections of the page are "Deciding to Go," "Preparation," "Transportation," "Inside the Parks," Character Encounters," and "Other Issues." There's a section of "Veteran's Tips", too - tips from other families and parents who've traveled with young ones. You should find this particular page and entire website very helpful.

Hope I could help! Take the trip to Walt Disney World with your children! You'll have an incredible time!

OK I haven't gone with my daughter yet but my parents took me and my little sister when we were 5 and 2.5 respectively. I remember everything and had great fun but my sister was too young to do much of anything while we were there. We went to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot and to a water park. I was allowed to ride the rides with my dad or my mom but my sister was too small to do them at all. I would probably wait until they're 4/5 so they have a better chance of enjoying it. If you are wondering about rides and activities perhaps you should "google" the park you're planning on going to and they'll probably have lots of info and probably even a customer service number to call if you have really specific questions that the site doesn't answer. Have fun!

I took my 12 month old to Disneyworld. He loved it, there are a lot of rides for his age group. Most of the rides in Fantasy World are great for toddlers, though some can be scary at first. The 20 month old probably wont remember much, but I think the 3 year old would remember it. Plus you'd have lots of great photos of them enjoying it.

Disneyland is better for toddlers in my opinion. Disneyland has all the great toddler rides that Disneyworld has, and the weather in San Diego is much more pleasant then hot-muggy Florida. We went during a bad time of year so we barely spent any time at the park, it was just too hot and humid. Disneyworld has more parks but with the little ones I doubt you'd go see all the different ones. (Not much for the little ones there) You'd probably spend the whole time in Magic Kingdom, which is no different then Disneyland. I could probably go on and on about why i'd choose Disneyland over Disneyworld the next time around, but my fingers are tired! Have fun if you go!

Oh yeah, make sure to bring a video camera or lots of film because they probably wont remember it all, but it'll be lots of fun to look back at them anyway!

I took my daughter when she was two because she loved Mickey Mouse. Although she is 11 now she doesn't remember but the look on her face when she saw him is a memory I will cherish my whole life. A lot of people think its better to wait until kids are older, but even though they may not remember it, they will still have a good time at the moment and isn't that the point? As for rides, the kids will be able to ride a lot of the rides with an adult at the magic kingdom. Another good thing, is that kids under three are free and tickets are pricey! Have fun. Your kids will enjoy it and you will have great memories.

My parents took my older sisters (twins) and me to Disney Land and Magic Mountain all those places every year! I don't remember much of anything. Its good if you want to take pictures and stuff - but I don't think the kids will remember much until the get older. I have a four yr old and a seven year old and even now, if I take them to an amusement park - it is hard becuase she is still not tall enough for the bigger rides and her brother can ride and she gets upset! I don't think that they let the parents ride with the children if they are not tall enough to get on the ride to begin with. I tried that and was told NO! I would wait. I plan to take my kids to Disney Land sometime next yr . The will be 5 and 8 and hopefully it will be a good experience for all of us. Good Luck!

No they do not allow small children to ride the "dangerous" rides with their parents. As for the original queston, "Would you take a 3 year old and a 20 month old to Disney World?", ONLY if there was a straight jacket waiting for me at the exit gate upon leaving. I suggest waiting until both children are little older.

For the most part, I would wait. Disney is very expensive and a lot of the rids there are too big for even a three year old. If money is not an object for you, then I would suggest taking them; they will have a lot of fun, but they would also have fun at a county fair! Personally, if you want your money's worth, wait unil your daughter is about seven and your son is 5 (or somewhere in that range).

I would think about it. I don't think it is a bad idea it might make things a little more difficult but there is so much to do I'm sure your 3 year old would love it. The good thing is you can go in the morning get your hand stamped and then go back to your motel put your kids down for a nap and go back. The nice part is the fireworks everynight I believe it's arounf 10pm they do awesome fireworks. I would sugest the magic Kingdom its more kid oriented. Good luck and have fun were going in April. If you have any other questions feel free to email me I have been going to Florida once a year since I was little.

I wouldn't unless you have someone that is going with you that really could care less about the parks and just wants to stay in the hotel room. Then, that person can watch the 20 month old while you take the 3 yr old to the age appropriate things for them.
