Apparently there was more than one model. The artist who created the Sunbeam Bread spokesgirl / Mascot was Ellen Barbara Segner (who died in 2001). One of the models was a six year old named Donna Kay Ericksen of Champaign, Illinois. I'd also love to know who some of the other models were. Take care.

The little girl was a compilation of several girls in the 1920s. In 1952 a contest was held to find a real girl to represent the original image. Cynthia (Cindy) Golden (nee Kotz). She never collected a dime, only the honor. She was 5 at the time. She currently lives in Oklahoma, in the Tulsa area. I believe she is married to an AA employee.

Beverly Kipps from Coal City West Virginia in 1951/1952. She received a $50 savings bond (huge amount at that time) and she still has the original bread wrapper from one of the printings.

I did the exact same thing with my Hitachi bread maker. Hitachi wanted $32 for a new one. (I only paid $49 for the complete maker new) I found a broken GE bread maker at the Salvation Army for $1 and took the paddle to a machinist and he made it fit in about 10 minutes. He charged me $5. Just an idea.
