Hopefully by now we all know the history of Christmas. If you don't, please do a little research my friends. Being an American and raised in an organized religion. I struggled very hard with the idea of giving up Christmas.
Last night when I was crying to the Lord over my confusion I was comforted. I will carry all that is good about Christmas in my heart. Love and compassion to fellow man. Charity and goodwill. Fellowship with family and neighbors. Gratitude to my Father for sending His Son for my salvation.
The origins of Christmas make it difficult for me to recognize it as a Holy day, but the meaning it holds for me is worth keeping.

The large gift which was given to humanity by the arrival of Jesus on ground is the "Truth" which It brought: its teaching. To consider only the person of the Messenger necessarily makes forget the message brought. However, it is the message which is important, because it is in him that the assistance offered to humanity resides. This assistance was, and is still all the more appreciable as the as until then men had received lesson concerning the Truth only by the intermediary of the prophets or precursors sent by God. With the arrival of Jesus, it is the Creator who, while sending a part of Itself, came to explain to his creatures how Its Creation functions and how they must behave there in order to vibrate in harmony with it.

Jesus of Nazareth was not born on December 25 (atleast we don't know that, its an assumed date) I will look at X-Mas more as a time to reflect on our interpersonal relationships with close family and friends. Jesus was born of a Virgin mother, how will a modern day Joseph accept a child he did not conceive?
I think its a time to reflect on these precious relationships & make peace where need be.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God. and the Word was God. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and Truth.
It is the Love of Christ who willing came to this world as a babe, in a lowly manner, to offer up Himself as a gift of Life, through death, to the whole world. Wonders of wonders He came!

Getting people to buy gift cards. I even got a few, and I am not celebrating Dec 25th.
And, imagine. If I got a couple hundred on a card, there must be thousands out there who have received em, then there must be hundreds of millions wrapped up in tiny pieces of plastic. I have the equivalent of money timesharing. I 'have' the money..... but they get to invest the original purchase...keeping it until it is used, and earning millions back in interest, dividends, trading..... on my money.
Christmas is sponsored by Best Buy, Lowe's and Home Depot......

The original meaning was related to the Solstice, the days start getting longer again. The pagans saw it as a reason to celebrate.
Some 300 years after Jesus, it was taken on as a Christian Holiday.
Now it's all about commercialism.

It is the time of year in which family gather around and talk with one another. Share the happy moment, and have some time for good friends, or sis sis to talk to each other over their busy day lives.
it is the time of year where people can help the unfortunate children too.
