The Ethiopians have a much larger standing Army and unlike the last time this happened, the Somali's now do not widely support those that fight the Ethiopians.

The Somali's have not had an effective government in almost 15 years. The religious fanatics seized power the same way they are attempting to do so in Iraq... by brute force.

During the World Cup Soccer Match.... all Somali's were banned from watching the event because the Muslims Clerical Council deemed it 'improper'. In one instance, at a local cafe, Muslim extremist militias executed several teenagers who violated that edict on the spot.

The Somali's as a group of people do not support the Clerics at all, but they also lack the strength of arms to do anything about it.

The Ethiopians Army/ Air Force is still operating at the level of competence it had previously. The Somali Muslim militias are just that..... militias, roving gangs of street thugs that blindly follow their Clerics extremist decrees. They lack proper everything....except of course 'human bomb carriers'.....

The Ethiopian military will do very well in taking the country from these fanatical Muslim extremists and hopefully they have learned by watching the US in Iraq. The Real Somalian Government troops are outnumbered but have the popular support of a great percentage of the Somali people.

It is a fart in a bottle. The weapons of bhoth nations are elderly and probably badly maintained. It will reduce to an infantry war with AK47s, and a lot of civilian casualties.

Us British could sort it out militarily, bur we have our hands full in Iraq and Afghanistan. Turkey, Egypt, Greece and Italy could stick a Brigade in each. They would flatten the lot in a week.

im hoping it doesnt baloon into a wider conflict involving the entire horn of africa...it could spark another war between ethiopia and eritrea except they would be fighting in somalia, which means even more people would die and more destruction would occur
it could be like the vietnam conflict, where the americans and soviets supported both sides yet fought in a different country ya kno

I would not expect a great deal form this country; no vital interest there. I expect that not much will occur between the two. This will simmer for years to come with little escalation.

One thing is certain, the USA is going to keep supplying arms and stuff so that African brothers can destroy each other. God bless America and their puppets all over the globe.

Who cares. I hope they both destroy each other. They are worthless countries.

It's time to stop trying to repair unfixable things. Let all these small, worthless countries trying to kill each other do it. We've done all we can do for them.
