Who can now say they don't get free medical care?http://www.bakersfield.com/119/story/90969.html
More than 100,000 undocumented women each year bear children in California with expenses paid by Medi-Cal, according to state reports. Such births and related expenses account for more than $400 million of the nearly $1 billion that the program spends annually on health care for illegal immigrants in California, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing state reports. California long has been one of the more generous states in offering such benefits to illegal immigrants, covering everything from pregnancy tests to postpartum checkups. Many illegal immigrants who might otherwise shy away from government services view care associated with childbirth as safe

Obvioulsly, thats why they come here. To have better medical care and it does not cost a thing. In addition to that they also receive food stamps, post medical care including transportation to and from the hospital by taxicab. If a local citizen has a child and her husband takes the family car to work and she needs post natal care...do you think she gets it paid for NOT! Undocumented people in los angeles receive over 7 million dollars in free taxi vouchers per month! Is it really a question why our former governor pete wilson needed to put a stop to this?

Most medical coverages will pay for birth control... Im not sure what brands will be covered but U can check with ur plan. I know Rite-care covers everything of the cost. Others may cover all or some, for the most part they would rather cover the stuff then have a baby in 9 months.. If they are resisitant on covering u can always see what they would consider covering, they can give u stuff that is covered. I always tell my doctor what I need and they just call it in and tell them, "she needs this, over-ride it" So it usually 99% of the time works out... Good luck

100,000 births per year in California alone? That seems very high. What is Bakersfield.com? Are they credible? Assuming that they are, California is certainly bearing a very expensive load. Of course, I'd bet many of the illegals are working, paying taxes, spending into the local businesses and otherwise helping to support the system. That isn't to say they aren't a burden to your state's medical and economic systems. I'm just saying it's probably not the one way drain you're suggesting.

Yes and Schwarzenegger and the Dems are planning on pushing a health bill with even higher income levels, also covering illegals, next year. This even though it couldn't get funding last year and we voted it down within the 'cigarette tax' referendum in November.
I'm fine with a health plan, but not one that creates an even GREATER magnet for illegals to come to California. It isn't just health care costs, our schools are failing.

I guess we know where one of the first states of Mexifornia is going to be. Sadly, I live there.
They don't pay squat for me. It costs me $1000 a month to do my health thing. It's good insurance but ....?
It kills me and I'm about to leave either the US or certainly Calif.
The YoJo's that are pro and illegal on this site will get thiers someday. What goes around comes around.
Good post.

Would you prefer that they simply give birth on a newspaper in a public restroom? Or perhaps just die during birth to save you the tax burden?
It has been my pleasure to coach and train many Hispanic soccer kids and jeez I just never got around to checking on their "status". Most of them fought non-traditional homes, learned English on their own and many were "A" students.
I figure that about the same percentage of illegal births as legal births bring something to the party, so to speak. In many ways these births are an asset to the United States.
You might invest a little research in how much low life American Citizens COST and what they contribute in return.
Look at all the delinquent college loans because to many kids were to busy haveing a GREAT time with the car, credit cards and party. Oh you mean I really have to pay that back, I thought it was like a mommy and daddy loan and it would just be forgotten.
Look at the BIG PICTURE; you can't brush your teeth with a fire hose.

That is a beautiful thing. A true sign of someones character is how they treat our most unfortunate. It's too bad it's not a national thing.
