I currently have allstate insurance in Georgia. I currently have an agent, but quotes are cheaper online. I have never be given a ticket or been in an accident thus the online quote shouldn't be higher.

I would like to know if it is possible to cancel insurance by calling customer service then applying for allstate again via their online site.

You must turn in your liscense tag FIRST, or either get the new insurance BEFORE you cancel the old. DMV will fine you if you don't do that.

But, yes.....you CAN change to a new policy.

First of all...is the quote you're getting on line with the same company or a different one? The insurance premium you pay with one company should be the same whether you initially purchase the policy on line or through an agent in person. You policy will still be assign to a Allstate agent no matter how you go about purchasing it.

You have the right to cancel you insurance any time with any carrier. When you cancel your insurance it's going to cancel at midnight the day you cancel the coverage. The other coverage will begin at 12:01Am the day you start your coverage. So, technically you can cancel you current insurance on the 15th and have the new insurance take effect the 16th and be OK. I would call your insurance agent fist and find out about the price difference. He/she may not recognize a discount you're eligible for OR there may be a perfectly good reason for your insurance to be higher now that with your quote. Good luck!!

Buy the replacement policy first! THEN cancel the original one.

If you have an agent, why don't you just ask him or her why the rate is lower on-line?

Keep in mind that what you are getting is a "quote". There's a bit of fine print buried in there. It will state, "Subject to underwriting." That means that once you make a formal application for the policy it will be reviewed by an underwriter who will set the final policy price.

This is the dirtly little secret of the insurance industry - you don't get the real price until you make the formal application and an underwriter reviews it. It's quite likely that your final price for the on-line policy will be the same as the one through your agent.

Just be thankful that you're not buying commercial liability coverage. They complete the underwriting process at the END of the policy year and your rate is adjusted up or down at that time. Sometimes it results in a breathtaking bill at the end of the policy year.

You have the sequence backward. If you cancel your insurance, and then apply, you will have a gap in coverage. Get the new policy in place before dropping the old one. But if it's the same company, I would call the agent and see if he will match the on line price. Do keep in mind what they give you on line is only as estimate based of what information you gave them, subject to change after they check things out and issue the policy.

Do some more shopping on prices, call your representative and mention your intentions and ask if they will give you the same on line price. Always have a fall back insurance you can go to though. Usually they will coincide and allow a customer to take advantage of the new rate. Be nice but firm and only accept your terms.

take the quotes you received from allstate and go talk to your agent, show him the quotes and ask him if he can do the same
most companies have several rate levels, could be that you'll qualify for a better rate or another discount, but do talk to him first

i could get your on line quote and then contemporary it on your contemporary insurer and notice in the event that they'd experience it for the comparable insurance. in the event that they'd't, cancel it and bypass with the hot one. on occasion the great low-cost ones have extreme deductables or lesser insurance.

You can cancel your policy now; buy a new policy now; AND WAIT FOR A REFUND IN THE MAIL FROM THE COMPANY YOU CANCELLED.
