Hi yes you can.
Places like www.torrentbox.com or even limewire software have windows 2000 for download, but the main problem with this is that those people that put the software for free usually put viruses, trojans, spyware even worms on them so you're risking having your computer infected, plus when you try to get your cd key for windows 2000 on the web for free most of them will put you through porn websites and a lot of pop ups in order to get the cd key.

But,
You can order a bootleg copy from http://www.warezstore.com/p/?letter=M and pay like $30 instead which doesn't have any viruses or trojans and comes with the cd key

NO - Microsoft does not give their OSs away for free. How do
you think Bill Gates got so rich??

But you can download for FREE several Linux distributions.
Currently Ubuntu is the most popular Linux operating system.
You can download it for free and use the CD as a "live CD"
to test your system as to whether Ubuntu will work with it.
Microsoft is not so generous.

I use Ubuntu on my laptop w/ wifi and on my older desktop PC.

You can't unless you want to break the law

It's illegal

Even if you pay for it from one of these sites that say you can buy it and download it for $50, it's still illegal

You have to buy it legally if you want it.

Just get windows xp
