like Sadam, Hitler, Idi Amin etc who ordered the murder of 1.000s of innocent people...Why are so many people worshiping him and condemning the others. Please don't quote books written by fundamentalist fanatics...though I guess that is my refference too.

We worship God for the power that he posseses. The power to give us life or snuff it out. We are humbled by his power in the same way that people were humbled in the presence of Hitler or Pol pot. Have more respect. Power is everything, that is what we learn about God....the more power you have the more God like you are....You are envious of God and the Great Despots.

there comes a time when all this glory comes to an end...hitler was known as a great orator to a people who were distressed and groveling in poverty.
same for all those who came to power and abused it...they had a way of manipulating people due to the situation they were in.
people were blinded by the chance of hope which these leaders gave...some regained sight and others took longer...in saddam's case some have still not regained this sight.

i am not quoting fundamentalist fanatics..dont worry these are my words after careful observation of the underlying psychology.
remember, history came to be by the doings of humanity and the science of humanity is psychology...people often forget the human element in history....if you keep that in mind it is easy to understand how things like this happen...i agree however it will never be easy to fathom why

I don't think God orders anyone or anything to happen. You are probably referring to passages in the Old testament (Hebrew Scriptures) where the Israelites slaughtered various tribes. This is a "history" of the development of the Israeli society. They were just one of a great many tribes in that region of the world and these tribes were always battling each other for control of the land. The Hebrew Scriptures were composed roughly 500 years before Jesus in response to the exile of Israel in Babylon. They contain many stories and mythology which had been handed down orally for generations and, quite frankly, a good deal of it was written in a way to justify their conquests. This was the way the Israelis understood God at that time and it was never intended to be taken literally. It was a pretty primative theology, but their theology also contained a lot about love and caring for others. The punishments and favours dispensed by God was really about knowing God and having a relationship with God that provides strength when bad stuff happens. This is the theology that emerged later and the theology that thinking people of faith today understand.

Having an active relationship with God is the genius of the Jewish development. It was what Jesus was all about.

People who ask God for material things who think God is on their side (quite common among fundamentalists) are still in a very primitive understanding of God. That was not the God that Jesus talked about. Jesus showed us the God of love (don't forget, Jesus was Jewish).

The world is full of people. Not even half are on Yahoo Q & A.

So the world cannot comment.

And you are severely generalizing and quoting misinterpreted media news.

As for the God, theres no such thing as unconditional love.

Like a previous answerer said: 'He has unconditional patience'

People tend tofocus on the positive with their ideas of the divine. So the Abrahamic believer tends to think of their God as love, light, truth, etc., and ignore the stories that present a contradictory image. It's really no different then a parent not seeing the negative qualities of their child, etc. Love is blind.

The killings perpetrated by Hitler or Sadam or any other despot are nothing compared to the killings, the suffering, the torture and the intolerance perpetrated in the name of religion.

God has the right to create and destroy.
Pol pot was a communist atheist, so I guess he belongs in your camp, with the unbelievers.

By the way so does Stalin, Hitler, and all the rest of the disobedient and unbelieving crowd of worldlings who commit evil in the world, no matter what they call themsleves. God will judge and has the right to judge. Are you saying God himself has no right to judge, but you do? Why do you allow yourself what you deny God?
What all I have to do is commit a murder, say I am atheist, and that means all atheists kill people as part of their cult of unbelief?

You shouldn't betray your brothers like that.
To tell you the truth, I prefer a God who is real, has a little passion, and is kind of a middle eastern tyrant, as long as he is on my side. I prefer that to a relativist, weakling, tolerant, unjust, permissive wimp in the sky. So your opinion or preference is cancelled out by mine.
If I were you I would feel the same way.
When you go to the movies who do you sympathise with? the warrior hero, or the traitor criminal victim of his justice?
Do you think you have the right to judge God but he doesn't have the right to judge you?
This is your problem, this is why you do not understand anything, not because there is anything wrong with the bible or biblical God, you are brainwashed by todays fashionable irreligion and deviancy.
Understand that God is in the Heavens and don't be so quick to believe your own finite thoughts, you do trust yourself too much.

The God of the Jews, Christians, umph, I'll leave Islam out of this because they spread by the sword.

I will focus more on the Christian God since Christianity is the fulfill the OT of the Judaism.

Christianity preached love of neighbor and love of enemy. Jesus preached this much about it. He said to love God first, then yourself, and then your neigbor.

Christianity itself does not condemn violence at all. There are only exceptions when the need to defend oneselve from an invading army is necessary.

In the first 300 yrs of Christianity, it was spread by word of mouth. Orally. It was not spread by the sword like Islam. It was later in the late 1500s that you find Christian nations like Spain force people to convert. The Pope at the time condemned forced conversions. Conversion needs to come from the hearts of men, and the desire to know God.

One must realized and acknowledge the Truth, who is Jesus Christ.

Like I said before, Islam in its beginning preach force conversion and killed anyone not willing to accept the religion of Islam.

Lucky for us that this is not the real God.

The real God is unconditionally loving.

The exact opposite of the judgmental punishing God of the old testament.

Often religion is little more than a lie about God.
