it just happened that BOTH gave the O- gene to you and your brother

all possible blood typs
a+ a- =a+
a- a- = a-
a+ a+ = a+
b+ b- = b+
b- b- =b-
b+ b+ = b+
o+ o- =o+
o+ o+ = o+
o- o- =o-
a+ b+ = ab+
a- b- = ab-
a+ b- = ab+
a- b+ = ab+
a+ o+ = a+
a- o+ = a+
a- o- =a-
b- o- = b-
b+ o- = b+
b- o+ = b+
since you get 1/2 from each pearant both pearants are o+ and o- ans you got both o-'s
it gets confusing when the a or b is resive and the o is dominat its rare but it does happen
