Although I expect you are thinking of Lester Piggott, that answer would be technically wrong. Although he officially retired in 1985 and became a trainer, after serving a stint in jail for tax "irregularities", he resumed being a jockey and, "He rode his last winner in October 1994 and officially retired, this time for good, in 1995."

The question is inaccurate. Lester Pigott of course but he didn't evade his his tax liability. He attempted to but eventually paid up, with interest and penalties and lost his liberty for a few months for his cheek!
