i am baking something tonight and i forgot to get some confectioner's sugar. what can be a substitute?

Confectioners sugar is another name for fine powdered sugar. If you have some powdered sugar then use that. Otherwise, try to grind up some regular cane sugar to a finer consistency.

Edit: Sometimes a little corn starch is added to keep it from lumping over prolong periods of storage, but if you're going to use it right away (which I imagine you are) then it's not necessary to add this.

I just checked my powdered sugar box for list of ingredients and its says sugar and cornstarch.
I would grind fine 1/2 cup granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a food processor.

you can put regular granulated sugar in a food processor and make powdered sugar. A really high speed food processor works best.

you can make your own by putting granulated sugar in the blender or foodprocesser
