use cold water and don't use shampo, just conditioner

You need to "strip" your hair with an acidic rinse. This will strip the product from your hair and return it to a "cleaner" state. No shampoo will rinse out completely so this quick and easy rinse works well. And when you find a shampoo you like and it seems to "stop working" use this to remove the buildup, rather than changing shampoos.

2 T white vinegar to 1 C hot water ( its not an exacting science .. i just pour a splash in a 32 ounce cup then fill the rest with water) ... pour it over your head then rinse that out under the water. It doesn't leave your hair smelling of vinegar but do be careful to keep you head tilted back, the vinegar stings the eyes a bit.

I'm not a hairdresser but I don't think I would use an acidic rinse for that. Try a clarifying shampoo to get it out. This usually works for me. I try to use one about every two weeks.

Actually, conditioner feels like it won't ever come out. Like how it's all slimy, and if Shampoo lathers, it's doing it's job. Hope I helped :p
