Used to have a Fiesta. Thermostat often goes out. Also you may need a higher temp thermostat @ leat 195 degrees

The other thing on these that often is a problem is the heater core.

Good luck, hope you get it fixed!

I know two possible items:

1. the hot water hose feed the heating element got plugged by the dirt filled in the heating element flow path. This can be done by applying back flush.
To do the back flush you first locate the inflow and outflow ends of the hot water hoses to your heating element (near the firewall, not radiator)
use tools to disconnect the hose on both ends
connect the garden hose to the outflow end of the heating element (you will need to fashion your own connector, such as cut off the garden hose, and try to make the connection tight, if won't fit, you need to get a larger rubber hose to sleeve-in this coupling. The rubber hose can be purchased from auto parts store)
If you can get the coupling to fit tight, all you have to do is to turn on your water and let it flush for 10 minutes or so.

2. The other possibility is your car has an electronic switch that control the opening of hot water into your heating element. This is the result of a bad design from the Ford engineering team, very common on most newer model Ford cars.
If this switch is bad, you have no choice but visit your car dealer for high price service.

The heater core will be behind the glove box or at least on that side.
look under the hood for where the hot water lines enter the firewall. should be two one of them the feed line will have a valve. Kind of like a hose spigot...make sure that's open all the way! some people will close them in the summer...that would make Your heater not work. if that's not the problem pull the two hoses and check to see if their full of gunk... if that still doesnt do it it could be the heater core is cloged and may need to be replaced...I'd try to flush it clean first

Check that the linkage to the valve is still functiong.
Your coolent is what heat the car. There is a valve that opens an shut this off to the inside of the car. If its open your getting heated coolent to the heater core. If its closed your not. this is the first thing to find out.

Diesels take longer to warm up and don't get as hot as gasoline engines, especially if the weather is cold.....if it is put something in front of the radiator, if that doesn't work then check the thermostat.
