They are closed because it's a HOLIDAY. Period. There are OTHER holidays observed that have nothing to do with religion.
I'm not religious, but I still think it was a cheap shot to add "..some worthless myth." There's no reason to be pejorative about those who value this specific day, for their own reasons, & to which they have the right. I enjoy the "festivities," pagan that I am, but I hope all the Christians are having a wonderful Christmas & not bashing those of us who don't believe.

Edit: Thanks to Girl Wonder. I didn't want to say that I'm an Atheist anticipating the wrath of R&S coming down on me, especially today! I don't have to agree with others, but I respect, not like "Theres No God" who posted the question.

Ya know....

Any day a company will pay you to stay home so you can spend time with your family, no matter what the occasion, should be recognized and celebrated.

Not every store is closed, mind you. And there are some of us who wish it would have been a few days earlier so we could have the same recognition for our holiday, but hey, its a paid day off.

I'm not complaining.

Look, I'm an Agnostic, but really, I like having today as a holiday. It doesn't matter why: I prefer to tell anyone who asks that I'm celebrating the birth of the god Mithras, or the birth of Issac Newton. If you want to work today, feel free. I'll be spending today with my family.

Christmas is a legal hiliday; and it is only natural for workers at stores to want to be home with their families.

Positively annoying, isn't it?

I really got a taste for some MoJo chicken at Publix. I am dead serious here.
