Not following the Social Laws of the Old Testament. If you believe that you don't have to follow the OT's Social Laws, then I must ask you:

1- Can you marry your father's former wife?

2- Can you marry your own sister?

3- If you're a Hindu (male Hindus are allowed to marry their sisters' daughters) and you just recently embraced Christianity, then are you allowed to marry your sister's daughter whom you probably fell in love with before or at least had strong feelings toward, or was probably spoken for, when she was young while you were a Hindu?

4- Can you marry your son's former wife, or daughter's former husband, if you're a dad or mom?

5- CAN YOU MARRY YOUR OWN MOTHER????

The New Testament hardly contains any social law. It certainly doesn't address any of the questions I raised! Only the Old Testament is thorough and contains all of the Social Laws that define the limits of marriage and relationships and other social issues.

For points #1&2 above, if the polytheist trinitarian pagans EAT PORK because it is not prohibited in the NT, then SHOULDN'T that also allow for them to start marrying their own siblings (brothers and sisters) or their nieces and nephews, OR EVEN THEIR OWN PARENTS??

I mean, who's really to say no if the NT doesn't prohibit it!!

HECK, they're now allowing for men to marry men and women to marry women!

It is quite clear and beyond question that the Bible contains many abrogations. There Christians' bogus claim about Islam being false because Allah Almighty substituted some of His Holy and Divine Laws in the Noble Quran with Others is soundly debunked in this article! All Praise due to Allah Almighty.

I don't know, but it seems to me that if you follow the Old Testament, you are Jewish, right? I mean, don't Christians follow the New Testament?

In America, the government has laws that prohibit you from marrying family members - and that is largely for health reasons, as I understand, as inbred children have a greater chance of health problems. As far as father's former wife - I have heard about similar things in situations of a death, for example. I know a couple in Ohio that were in-laws until their spouses died and then they married each other in like their 70s - so a brother married his deceased brother's widow. What possible problem moral problem could that cause?

Peace!

WHY IS IT, that people = THAT DO NOT BELIEVE THE BIBLE = are Such Critics and ask Questions out of Ignorance = instead out of Real Question?

The OT Law was given to GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE = THE JEWS, who are hated by almost Every Nation, especially the Sons of Ishmael!

The LAW, was given to show HOW VERY SINFUL mankind was, and that a BLOOD SACRIFICE was required for Redemption!

Christ Jesus is going to Judge AGAIN when HE returns and sets up His Kingdom in Jerusalem!

Perhaps FURTHER READING in the OT will disclose this to you, especially Isaiah and Ezekiel.

Thanks, RR

The New Testament tells us that "the Old Law is for our learning". Why would you say such a thing if you really didn't know this. I am truly sorry if this hurts your feelings or upsets you in any way but the TRUTH is what matters here. Keep Reading and Studying The HOLY BIBLE and Have a great day!

The Old Testament and New Testament are still the word of God and all apply to everyone. What may confuse you is Christians are not under the law.Which also may confuse you. We are not under the law because we by faith have become new creatures and are no longer the man of sin. We by faith say that the man of sin is dead and we are alive to worship God in spirit and truth.Christ has fulfilled the law but it has by no means passed away. Christians are taught by Christ that we should go beyond the letter of the law. Your lack of spiritual understanding comes from the fact that you agree that your Jesus is not our Jesus...How do you think you could understand the spiritual teachings of a God you do not know? When Jesus said he fufilled the law what do you interpret that as meaning? All law was fufilled!!! Now understand that the law did not pass away but is still with us today. Who is under law? It is spiritual and only God can reveal the truth to you. You do not understand that Christ fufilled the law because you do not believe in the atonement so how do you argue the meaning of something you don't believe happened? Are you a hypocrite?

The answer to every one of those questions is NO. And yes, every bit of the Torah is still valid today. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." (Matt 5:17-18)

We do not follow Torah TO BE saved, we follow Torah BECAUSE we are saved.

It doesn't say anywhere in the Old Testament that you can't drive drunk at 95 miles per hour in a school zone during school hours. We have modern laws to make up for the deficiencies of the laws that are necessary in today's world.

It is quite clear that you have very limited to no knowlede of The Bible...understandable, as TheBible of The True Christian Faith is not for The non-believer. There is nothing in The Bible for The non-believer. Only those who are open to the leading of The Holy Spirit will find what God Has for them there.... to answer you great misundeerstandings would take months of dedicated study with a mature Christian group...But so long as you are not of The True Christian Faith do not be concerned with what is in The Bible. It dose not pertain to you... you are not under God's law...you are free to get away with whatever you can under man's law.

The Old and New testaments are nothing but God's love letters to you. He cared so much for you that He sent some help to keep you going the right direction and keep you safe. Don't fuss over it. Just ask God to help you to understand His Holy word and how to apply it to your life. It will set you free. It will bless your life when you gain understanding. Basically it was put here for you to gain knowledge of God and His ways. God loves you and wants you to know the truth.

While the social laws of the OT are not commonly identified in the NT other than under "sexual sins", they have become social norms of the Christian culture i.e. the west.

Brother you should explain the reason for people to not eat pork or shellfish is for health reasons. God did not randomly pick cows to be clean and pigs to be unclean. Fish with scales and fins to be clean and shellfish to be unclean.
Those unclean animals were designed by God and have a purpose. Their purpose is to clean the earth and the oceans of garbage (sewage)and they do it well. All those animals and shellfish have toxins and bacteria in them. They are unhealthy to consume by us. Here's the site again for whoever is interested.
