In the East of London in the UK, the worlds largest Moresleum is going to be built. England has become a place where every religion, race and belief has a place. There is now a growing sense of unease among many people, especially in London. Christmas decorations have been banned in some places, people taken to court for displaying ornaments in their own gardens, things like stone pigs?!
've been to several different countries, and I am a firm believer, that the beliefs and traditions resident, should be respected and left in tact.
The anger which is being felt from many different cultures in the UK because of this pathetic attitude from this group is growing day by day.
No body has said that a Muslim can not practice their faith, in fact, it's embraced as cultural diversity, which has made the UK even stronger!
Why is it, that Christmas offends? If I found someones beliefs offensive, I'd keep the opinion to myself and remind myself whose country I am in. Time to go home?

Oval in South London, decorations have to be non Christian, only stars. The stone pig, I will check upon, but it is true. I'd just prefer people to live and let live here. Churches aren't allowed in some Islamic countries. I went to a university, where I was a minority, as a white european. I don't expect people to choose the religion of the coutry they live in, just respect all of them, and let people worship how they want. If certain groups can't hack that, then time to go to a place where their religion is found. Maybe Christians should have respected Druids, but we're not talking about 100's of years ago! We're talking today! Live and let live, or leave.

You can't say that, the British National Party has been saying much the same for years and have been branded as a bunch of racists for it, for trying to preserve OUR culture!

So you can't say that..........can you?

Part of ALL religion is surely to recruit new 'believers', everybody trying to convert everybody (and back again); and as the whole country is full of 'sheep' conversion should be easy!

What was it Gandhi said: Be the change you wish to see! If you don't like what is happening.........Change it!

You bring up a question, then sorta answer it, all the while ignoring your own place within it.

You wonder if it's time to tell people to stop pushing their beliefs, yet you mention the fact of the world's largest 'mreseleum' being built (I can only guess you meant mosque) and the sense of unease 'people' feel regarding Christmas.

Do you feel 'comfortable' being around people whose beliefs you consider strange? In India, do you think a Christian would feel 'safe' or 'at ease' living in a predominantly Hindu community, with predominante Hindu beliefs? Do you actually expect them to simply accept everything Hindu, now that they are living there?

You say the beliefs of the 'residents' should be respected, but if you are an Indian living in London, does that mean you have to automatically do and say and believe everything London/England believes? Would you do the same if you moved to Hong Kong or China, or would you find and/or create a little version of England where you went?

Countries, cities (especially urban ones), even neighborhoods are not homogenous, all-one-thing entities. Xenophobia, coupled with a white-washed version of our own complicated history, is what often leads people to see 'others' (and it is always the 'others') as the ones who are causing the problems. But, let's not forget, you and your culture were once an 'other' as well.

Countries and cultures evolve not only in the sustaining of tradition (which were actually new and radical at one point) but through the influencing of new cultures and traditions. Any culture that does not runs of risk of ossifying and decaying. Look at what happened to Japan and it's policy of cultural and social isolationism/protectionism. In disregarding the West, it failed to understand and accept that any such 'barbarian' culture could ever have any might or value. Even America has tried to isolate itself from the world, but the world keeps rudely knocking on the door.

There is no single 'England' or 'London' as you imagine it. That is a myth of history passing itself off as selective memory.

The problem is, you don't want to stop people evangelising about all beliefs - only those you don't like.

Your rant was all directed against Muslims, full of half-truths, urban myths and downright lies.

So let's have some facts. Name the places where Christmas decorations have been banned; reference the cases of people being taken to court for displaying stone pigs; quote a single instance of a Muslim saying they find Christmas celebrations offensive.

I'll wager you can't evidence any of your "facts". If you can (and I don't count the Daily Mail or Sun as a reliable reference) then I'll apologise.

Your final shot says it all - time to go home? Are you another one of these BNP racists purveying lies to divide us? Or just another sheep believing the rubbish you are fed by them?

u do mean a mosque?
yes a sticky point in it's self; demand a place of worship but allow a church so we may worship abroad, is still being actively rebuked.
thanx u have enlightened me on how stupid and un-english we're becoming in this screwed up country!
we're all in need of a wake up call.

my neighbour has large stone pig ornaments in her back garden. as with the Milton Keynes stone cows, they're an eye-sore.
would it pay me 2 say i was a Muslim 4 the duration of a claim against them. get her 2 remove them as they offend me and then revert back 2 Christian when the dust settles?
silly thing 2 say?
not when u realise some Muslims r also bad muslims as they r nutters. True Islam is far removed from these mad, militant, awkward and devout muslim hate-preachers.

abolishing all organised religion i think is the only answer.

I'm not a christian...or anything for that matter. But I do have respect for people's religion. Christmas doesn't offend me, any more than I would be offended to drive past a Hindu's house and see a shrine of Vishnu on his lawn. I don't care what other's do, as long as they don't try to convert me

Unfortunately you can't control other people's actions. You only have control over your reactions to them. Few people TRULY live and let live. I try my best. I agree that anyone can worship as they see fit. One unfortunate thing is that some people interpret their beliefs as the one's everyone should follow. And they're not shy about letting everyone know. If you find an effective way to deal with these types let us all know. I'm trying hard myself. Happy Holidays!

Absolutely. If only the Christian invaders has respected the resident traditions of the British Isles. Next time you meet a Druid, show him/her some respect.

The people stirring all this up are the PC liberals of the local councils trying to get brownie points. I think they have an ulterior motive, winding us all up to strike against the other religions, who mostly accept christianity in this country.
