Sounds like he needs classes so someone can teach you how to train your dog. It's not hard to teach him he has to walk in the house, catch him at the door, hold him by the collar and tell him "easy". Keep your voice calm, if you want him not to be excited, you have to not be excited. Perhaps this dog needs a lot more exercise than he's getting and sounds like he definitely needs some kind of mental stimulation, too - like obedience. He's likely very bored. Don't know what he's crossed with, but boxers are extremely high energy dogs.

a 3 year old boxer... I could just laugh myself sick if I didn't feel so damn sorry for you ! LOL
I have a full breed 6 mos old little girl boxer. all prissy in her diamond collar.
She is the sweetest thing you have ever met.
...and the most stubborn thing I have ever trained. She will be a good dog when we get er done but GOD how frustrating. I have raised 14 Boxers right to deaths door... trust me when I tell you this:
it is easier to teach a cat to do your checkbook than to teach a 3 year old boxer (mix or otherwise) any thing at all. lol but you can try....
when ever he does anything naturally like ....lays down, say
OHHHH lay down good boy!!! and give him a little kibble
or something he can actually relate to... like a hunk of meatloaf from the neighbors garbage lol
(ok.. I know)
never EVER change your command once he learns what the hell you are talking about.
when he charges through the door is pretty simple tho.. at first YOU go out and say sit... this will take about 15 minutes or longer so dont leave the stove on. SAY sit and tap his bottom
if you catch him sitting act like you are doing him a favor by letting him do that. say: sit... good boy . Grab him by the collar and hang on tight....at this point you say stop.( riiiiiiight )
then let (shove) him in and put him in a KENNEL until he calms down.
a box will not hold him and neither will the old play pen like you use for the Yorkie. give him a bone. and not a cheesy vegitarian yam bone. hes a dog.
if you catch him peeing on the fencepost say peeeeee !!! good boy!!! more meatloaf
and put away you dainty little things.. you have a dog, dog. not a poodle
you will get sick of doing this. your only hope is ... hes mixed with collie LOl good luck and feel free to e mail me. you poor thing.( but don't you just love him when he gets out of the garbage with coffee grounds stuck to his bags LOL AAA Hohho how cute is that!)

I would try the Barkbusters program. It costs about 500 dollara but it has a lifetime guarantee for the dogs involved. It worked very well for my dogs because they are now well trained. If this is not an option for you...go to petsmart and pick up a book on training. If this still isnt an option look in your yellow pages for trainers.

it ought to have some calming impact however the issue is greater deep seated. in case you should maintain this animal then you definately ought to accomplish a little artwork. 30-40 minute walks daily. shop him beside you or somewhat at the back of. do no longer enable him roam or sniff whilst strolling. walk at a good %., (job, skate, bicycle much greater effectual), as this could rigidity him to stay beside you. do no longer enable the canines be the 1st out of the domicile or back in. make optimistic he's sitting calm and comfortable before leaving the domicile for the walk. you ought to be attentive to what contraptions him off. Your canines ought to be insecure, annoying and he seems to be lacking a %. chief. this could be you! The walks are the 1st step in setting up that place. bear in concepts do no longer use the canines's call whilst disciplining.

What I do with my excited dog is get on my bike, and while holding her leash I ride around the block with her running along. She enjoys the run and gets tired after it.
She isn't tottaly drained of energy, and all day she's calmer. She's still her excited self but just the right amount of excited.

try the 3 minute tough love technique.
1) wheb the dig comes in sit down on the floor and pet him.
2) if he strugles or makes an atempt to go wild, take your hand and pop it's bottom.
3) grab it lower jaw and make eye contact and say " no sir, calm down" over and over
4) when he settles, let him go. if he acts bad, repest 2-3 again.

Get yourself into a good dog obedience class. This will train "YOU" to be a good dog trainer. Give a LOT of treats for good behavior and correct all bad behaviors; soon you will find your dog wants to please you to get those treats!
