i have a small cage that i used for my parakeet that died a couple of days ago. I want to get something different, but still kinda cheap. They need to be friendly and able to be happy without a partner.

Also would burning candles and other smelly things be harmful to the birds?

Yes candles and other "smelly" things are awful for your bird which is probly why your keet died! Stick with keets, they're one of the cheapest birds you can get. Finches aren't a bad idea, especially if you're gonna continue to burn candles and such that could kill your pets!

How big is your cage?? A good bird is a cockatiel. They are friendly if you get one that has been handfed and comes from a good bird breeders and not a pet shop. Cockatiels from a breeder can range from $40-200, depending on the coloring etc. They can be noisy but if you give them plenty of attention they are really good pets.

And yes, candles and other smelly things can be harmful to birds.

Incense and candles can be harmful to a bird, as the smoke can affect their respiratory system.

If you aren't interested in another budgie/parakeet, the only other type of bird that's commonly sold, that would be suitable for a small cage, is a Finch.

you can get a canor or a love bird. Smoke is very harmful to birds just as to humans in the long run.

yes, burning candles a lot is bad, but if you do it once in awhile, it's ok. as for what type of bird you should get...............anythng that is not a parakeet, it will just remind of the ufortunate death of your bird.
