It is normal to an extent, kittens are so young that they need a lot of rest, are you sure that at night while you are sleeping that she isnt up running around doing normal kitty things? If this doesn't change within a week or two then you might want to take her in

Cats can sleep up to 16 hours a day (not in 1 go though). Is she playful at all?If she is then it's normal she sleeps a lot. If not there can be other issues. One of my cat was a stray kitten and she did act weird for a while but within a few weeks she was happily playing tarzan with my curtains and chasing whatever was moving including me.
First check with the vet that she is healthy and secondly keep trying to encourage her to play without forcing her. I'm sure she'll be ok. Good Luck

The sleeping is usual so don't worry but get used to it. the more they sleep the bigger they grow! The sitting is usual but she should be getting herself into some sort of trouble checking out her surroundings. Have you got her toys? When got my kitten a year ago I had to figure out what toys she likes which took sometime but now I know she is happiest with her activity tower, the plastic tags from socks and inner loo roll and the Christmas ball she stole from the tree last year. When she is awake try playing her, rub her tummy softly, dangle string in front of her which should get her interest. Don't worry about the sleeping thing though my little girl doesn't do much else till its time for my bed then she is a speeding bullet around the flat!!

A six week old kitten is young. Pups and Kittens do most of their growing while they are sleeping.
Are you with her during the day or is she alone? Do alot of interaction with her while she is awake like playing with her.
Kittens learn to play and develop their 'cat' skills while playing with the siblings. So become a sibling. Tickle the tummy, play with the paws, invest in a couple of cat toys. Put a paper bag on the floor and see what she does.
Just let her get a little older. She is just a baby so just give her time.

6 weeks old is pretty young. Most rescues/shelters do NOT adopt out their kittens until they are between the age of 8-12 weeks old, as that's when they're fully weaned and have learned all they needed to learn from their mother.
At that age, they tend to sleep a lot, have very short spouts of playtime.
If you just got her, she's probably not comfortable yet, therefore not active. Give her a few days to adjust to the new surroundings and new people.

Yes. this pattern will follow for most of his/her life. This is all most cats do, Eat,sleep and go to the toilet is the average pattern for a cat, sometimes staying up for a couple of hours for tickles or go out for an explore, but usually they will get bored with that and go for another sleep, cats sleep for an average of 18 hours. Kittens are still growing so they will be more tired and will tire quickly as their energy will be high but in great demand.

Only 6 weeks. I have a kitty that is 7 and thats all she does.
she takes a nap after she wakes up.
seriously tho...your baby is too young to be away from her litter and mom. Make sure you stimulate her bowels by massaging her anus and belly. sounds gross I know but she might just be a little stopped up and listless do not ever ever give her a laxative .
its OK to call the vet's nurse and ask him/her what else you can do... good question! Thumbs up!!

She is quite young yet but at about 10 - 12 weeks it should be very playful and be getting into everything. But some cats are very layed back and maybe she is just content to be low key that makes a nice kitty too.

This is normal she's still very young to be away from mum eight weeks is usually the norm. If you are at all worried take her to the vet. There should be some moments of liveliness.

Babies will be babies, and they do tend to sleep a lot. Have you seen her active at nights? Cats tend to be more nocturnal, meaning they are active at nights. It could be that she's playing with "imaginary" monsters at night, and spends the day sleeping. You can always entice her to play by buying toys. But you will notice that after playing for a bit, she will start to get really sleepy.
