If a possible... wind down by having a drink first. It will take the edge off... then just go with the flow.

Just join in the conversation with her family as best you can, tell your girl to help you out some with this. If this is the first christmas dinner you've been present with them I don't envy you one little bit.

Above all else don't sit and say nothing at all. Although, it is tempting. GF should owe you one for this, but then again you could take her to your parents and you'd both be even.

Then go have some great conversation by yourselves to relieve all the built up tension. Enjoy.

Just try to breathe and relax. Let them start the conversations, since you are on their turf, I assume. But have a few ideas ready. They always want to know about future plans, which can always be changed so dont feel bad about just throwing something out there that you are interested in. They also want to know where you grew up and what your parents did, or whoever raised you. Just be ready to be honest and join in like a new friend of theirs with a splash of humility.

lol, I love how guys are always so nervouse to meet the girls parnets. Listen just relax and just start talking to them really about anything. Like sports with the dad or just let them ask some of the questions first to see where you stand. Good luck and have fun!! Just be yourself and show that you love their daughter and thats all that matters.

dads are majorly over protective. ask your gf what he is interested in. research on the web and take mental notes. make small talk at the gf's house. don't be afraid to show affection but don't let the affection side track you from the parents. compliment the mother, and give a strong handshake to the dad. good luck!

The weather first. Then Christmas. Then ask them how they are keeping etc.
Tell them what a lovely house they have (if it is!)
Are they going on holiday this year? If so, it's a place you would like to go to. Must be lovely there etc.
Lovely Christmas tree / baubles/decorations.
You will be asked if you would like tea or something. Always say'yes please' and tell them how lovely/ nice/well made it is.
OK? Should keep you going for a bit. And good luck!

To impress her dad then don't be opinionated or a Mr Know-it-All and basically agree with everything the dad says. To impress the mum act like a gentleman, say please and thank-you and show your girlfriend lots and lots of consideration, treating her like a princess, it never fails and the mum will love you. Let them do the talking and just agree basically. Good luck.

If she told you anything about her parents use that to open a conversation. But.... As a parent myself let them lead, they usually have a number of things to say themselves. Just be friendly, and open parents can usually spot when you're phony. Take a deep breath, relax and say hello!

just go with the flow- thats really all you can do. Dont be to touchy with her while in their presence, and dont mention anything about sleeping t ogether bed habits or anything you wouldnt normall talk about in public. Treat it like a job interview...one that could potentially last for many years to come.

I can tell you what not to talk about...politics....sports team....religious beliefs. :) anything else will be safe. When you get there look around and try to "profile" them. Ask about anything that looks like a family heirloom. Good luck! Remember, they are just as nervous as you!
