Actually it should be,
Get saved, and then do the best you can with what God has given you, for to whom much is given, much is expected.
Yes, you can do good things for God and not be saved, but what would be the point if you were to spend your own eternity in Hell just because you wouldnt submit to your creator, but yet you would work and do good things in his name.

Nope. Your very best efforts will never get you into heaven. You are not good enough to earn this by yourself.
Your salvation and entrance into heaven is a gift. Like all gifts it belongs to the giver (in this case God) until the receipent (in this case the recpient is YOU) accepts the gift.
To accept your free gift of salvation: You need to get on your knees, admit you are a sinner, ask Jesus Christ into you life, and ask Jesus Christ to take over your life and to run it for you (what a relief!!!! You're going to be so much happier and stressfree!!!) Then you need to try to get baptized ASAP in obediance to Jesus' perfect example.
Then.... you may accept the gift of eternal salvation and admittance into heaven.

a bit more I should add... only those who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation(be saved). Works have nothing to do with Salvation. Actually, the Bible says "He who endures to the end is the one who will be saved." First, you have to learn God's will. Then, you have to apply it in your life. Last, you have to continue to do it until your life ends or God's Kingdom government takes over on earth.

I have written a whole book based on science, technology, evolution, The bible, and my belief that Jesus is my savior in that he brought to us the real message of God.
And just what is the main theme of God, and the Bible, and the messages of Jesus?
Harmony is harmony.
Disharmony is the only sin against God.
Jesus' messages, with a visit from the Holy Spirit, will lead you to Heaven. And you will know it mentally, emotionally, and physically within your body.
Bubba preachers seem to complicate matters in order to build their Religious Empires.

PS: God nor Jesus ever asked us to submit. Only Bubba Preachers (including Paul in the Bible) told us to submit or worship God.
Jesus never told us to Worship God, he told us to love God.
God, like any good parent wants one main thing from his children, ..... He wants them to get along with each other.
